(sorry i cant put a 4th one,not big on power metal)

Death Metal:
Death

Substitute Kiss for Deep Purple, Carcass for Cannibal Corpse, Deicide for Possessed, and Immortal for Hellhammer, insert Dio into the 4th power metal slot and replace Blind Guardian with Manowar and thats pretty much me.

I won't deny their influence but I assumed that these lists were opinionated, and I don't really like a lot of Nirvana. I prefer the other 4 a lot more.

I'm going to assume that the album you're talking about is Slaughter of the Soul, which is probably THE GREATEST MELODEATH ALBUM OF ALL TIME. That alone should have them included in at least the top 3 of any sort of Melodeath list. Just my opinion, anyways.

Grunge
Alice in chains
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Soundgarden

Metalcore
Killswitch Engage
All that Remains
As I lay Dying
Bullet for my valentine
(Fuck lamb of god, influential on the genre as they might be I can't get into them)
(fifth would be shadows fall, I just like bullet more even if shadows fall has been around longer)

new metal
Slipknot
Disturbed
Linkin Park
Three Days Grace

meladeath
soilwork
in flames
Amorphis
Scar Symmetry
(know this list will get me shit for not including at the gates or dark tranquility)

Progressive:
Opeth
Amorphis
(I'll think of two more later)

Modern hard rock
Shinedown
Avenged Sevenfold
Theory of a deadman
Nickleback (irritating, yes, influential, yes)

Post Grunge
Staind
Seether
Godsmack

Does not compute.

-Dio is not power metal.
-The concept of Manowar being better than Blind Guardian literally makes my brain get diarrhea.
