Iced Earth -- Chicago, IL -- September 21st, 2010
Tour: Escape From The Studio
Headliner: Iced Earth Support: Sons Of Liberty Venue: House Of Blues, Chicago, IL Date: September 21st, 2010 =========================== Iced Earth List: Intro: 1776 01. Burning Times 02. Declaration Day 03. Vengeance Is Mine 04. Last December 05. I Died For You 06. Travel In Stygian 07. Jack 08. The Hunter 09. The Coming Curse 10. A Question of Heaven 11. Colors 12. Watching Over Me 13. My Own Savior 14. Iced Earth Set Time: 8.00-9.18 Iced Earth Lineup: Vocals: Matt Barlow Guitar: Jon Schaffer Guitar: Troy Seele Bass: Freddie Vidales Drums: Brent Smedley It was cool to hear some rare songs, but four songs were cut from the set for unknown reasons. (Violate, Pure Evil, Prophecy, Birth Of The Wicked.) Barlow sounded great and the band was tight. The place was packed from what I could see and the crowd was fairly loud. There was a decent crush up front. Overall it was a very good show. The only downside was the short set. Sons Of Liberty Set List: 01. Jekyll Island 02. Don't Tread On Me 03. False Flags 04. Indentured Servitude 05. Tree Of Liberty 06. Feeling Helpless 07. We The People Set Time: 6.55-7.40 Sons Of Liberty Lineup: Vocals: Jon Schaffer Guitar: Troy Seele Guitar: ? Bass: Freddie Vidales Drums: Brent Smedley

Great gig last night! Unfortunately, for whatever reason House of Blues has a 9:30 curfew. I don't know the reasoning but they're strict about it. I caught In Flames there a few years ago and they were forced to shorten the set considerably. They seemed caught off guard by it as they announced the last song pretty unexpectedly.
Last night, I happened to catch a glimpse of the crew sheet on the soundboard and it said, Curfew 9:30 SHARP!!!!! |

I'm seeing them this weekend. I hope those 4 songs are in the set list when I see them. So the Sons Of Liberty lineup is pretty much Iced Earth - Matt Barlow + unknown guitarist? I know it's Schaffers solo project but this will be the 1st time I see members of a headlining band also being the support LOL

I know the City of Chicago has a curfew for All Ages shows, but I know it's not THAT early. I'm 99.99% sure the city curfew is 10:30 weekdays and 11:30 on Fridays & Saturdays. |

I really like that set. Could do without Watching over Me AND I Died For You but ah well. Add in the missing songs and thats a really good set. Nice to see Schaffer playing SOMETHING from Burnt Offerings. Wish they would do Burning Oasis though.

i would love to hear Burnt Offerings or Creator Failure off of that album (the high notes of Creator would be EPIC live imo). But I know that won't happen.

9:30 curfew? Damn, that's crazy. I've never been to a show, no matter the size of the venue, that ended that early. The local club here that gets all the major metal shows has a curfew of at least 11:30. I've seen shows go past midnight there as well. I've never been there but that's definitely a strange occurence at HOB in Chicago if you ask me.
Also, SOL could've cut two songs off their set so IE could've done a few more. IE is the band selling the tickets after all. You figure they would be informed of the curfew before their set started.
