I saw Columbus beat San Jose 3-2 last night in Stockholm. Great first and third periods, both teams went completely to sleep in the second.

Unfortunate result. San Jose battered them throughout the entire third period at 2-2 but Columbus were rescued every time by Steve Mason in goal. Blue Jackets won in over time.

Now, the main point... and possibly one for DethMaiden to answer... why the fuck is the Blue Jackets mascot a kind of wasp/fly mutant thing?

Blue jacket=blue version of a yellow jacket. Pretty simple.

Glad you saw the game with the good outcome.

Mason is like a cat, sadly the team doesn't seem to keep it together throughout the season.

Right, that leads to a further question then. Why the fuck do you people call wasps "yellow jackets"? Never heard that one before. Probably because we use the proper words for things Did some really dumb kid many years ago just go "Duurr, Gee Ma, that there buzzy thing looks like it gots a yella jacket on!", and it stuck?

But stupid misnomer aside, why is Stinger green? Blue + Yellow? I hope not... that's dumber than calling a wasp a "yellowjacket"...

When the jerseys were 1,300 SEK (130/$200), there were no good outcomes.

Even the event t-shirt, which is currently $20 in the NHL.com store, were 300 SEK/30/$45.

First of all, we also call them wasps, and I'd say that's a lot more common than yellow jacket, but I'm pretty sure yellow jacket is a direct translation from a Native American word for wasp, which would make sense because most Native American names for things in nature were more descriptions of the thing than true nomenclature. But that's more than you wanted to know.

And I don't know why the stinger is green, but if you think the Blue Jackets' mascot is the dumbest in American sports, you've got another thing coming.
