Let me clarify that I am not making light of 9/11 itself. Of course it's important to remember. It's the fact that Fonzy started this thread in the most fucking George W. I think 9/11 jokes are tasteless, I think 9/11 meme images are unfunny and tasteless, and I think it's something that should be talked about in hushed tones and with politeness.
I just think this thread is awful. Hence the God Dammit Fonzy.
I don't like that people think 9/11 is "no big deal" and we need to get over it. I think it changed alot for this country, the world, and my generation in particular. I guess making stupid jokes and pictures is what the lowest denominator on the internet is prone to do.
My brother was born on August 15, 2001, and to quote Parker's Eyes by Redemption, he didn't know "what the towers looked like on September 10th. Words like hate and death and politics mean nothing yet, they're sounds. They're only sounds." The significance of this is going to be lost on alot of people here, but to me, it really means something. And unfortunately its easier to make jokes about people dying than to apply intellectual thought to the subject.
