yep, that's the one, not only in terms of guitar tone but in every fucking departement that you can imagine, THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST is the fucking definition of what heavy metal is all about. So stop searching, it's right there in front of you THE FUCKING NUMBER OF THE BEAST, cannot be beaten in any way, shape or form.

Cheers !

Best metal guitar tone of all time. No question.

Cosmo Lee did a cool article about uncoventional guitar tones http://www.invisibleoranges.com/2010...-guitar-tones/ and here are the overall best ones http://www.invisibleoranges.com/2010...-guitar-tones/

The fact that nobody has mentioned Tony Iommi yet is quite disturbing. He has always had the perfect heavy tone. He is also the loudest and heavist guitar you will ever hear live. TONY IOMMI >>>>>>>> everyone else.

I have to agree with you on that. I love the way the drums sound on the last two Gojira albums.

:sigh:

Does anyone else think that Kerry King's tone makes up for his douchbaggery?

As soon as I saw this thread, I thought Ride the Lightning. It's second to none, just a mean, tough as nails sound. However, I've got Into the Void going through my head right now and that is a pretty badass tone too.

Gary Holt's modern day tone slays all. Definitely my favorite rhythm tone ever.

Lead wise - probably Maiden.
