Black metal is more lo-fi, more soaked in reverb and atmospheric. At least Under the Sign of the Black Mark is.

I think a better debate would be why Morbid Angel's Covenant and Immortal's At The Heart of Winter are in two different genres. Especially considering the production values are the same.

An even better debate would be why are cats and dogs different animals. I mean, they both leave fur all over the house.

My point was that just because two things have something in common, it doesn't make them the same thing. Both albums are completely different.
