I am aware, I prefer the HW versions
The vocals are much better (I suppose better isn't the word, cooler, more violent sounding) and it gives off less of the technical clean vibe that Effigy has, which is still very little compared to modern suffocation. I prefer the thrashy old school raw sound in most of my death metal compared to the nicer, tighter, cleaner sound that most bands these days have.

didn't most people hate your list because you said "Esential metal list?" and you only put death metal on it?

Demolition Hammer- Epidemic of Violence
Megaslaughter- Calls from Beyond (kinda more death-y)
Energetic Krusher- Path to Oblivion
Blood Feast- Kill for Pleasure
Assorted Heap- The Experience of Horror
You could say Morbid Saint's Spectrum of Death could be on this.

Cool List. Bathory - Under the Sign of the Black Mark would be #1 on my list

You were correct about Obituary, but not Pestilence. That album was every bit as influential on the still-growing genre as Scream Bloody Gore, Altars of Madness or Realms of Chaos. Plus, that album is the reason Asphyx - which is on your list - became what they were.

Ask Martin van Drunen himself - he'll confirm it for you:

THE NAT IS RIGHT, FUCKFACE!!!

See, I told ya.
