Every 3 months or so, I get the urge to play through HL2 + Eps. 1 and 2 and I have to say Episode 2 is infinitely better than Episode 1. Hopefully Ep. 3 is more like that.

Or they decided to forgo Episode 3 in favor of a new engine and HL3.

YES!

There's been enough time between Episode 2 and now where HL3 makes way more sense.
