Bon Jovi -- Mohegan Sun, CT -- March 26th, 2010

I took wifie to see Bon Jovi as she has put up with a lot while I finished up my schooling. I felt that I had to purchase the "silver package", as those seats were $100 more, but decent. If I did not purchase the "silver package" then I would be paying $250/ticket with an upstructed view of the side/rear of the stage. With the package, we received a (day late) a concert book, a fake commerative ticket, a fake commerative back stage pass, and some other worthless junk.

The opening band was Columbia Fields from Connecticut, and they were great. They were like a blusey/jazzy David Matthews Band. I could not tell you what their setlist was, but we met up with them after the show at a bar. They were down to earth and nice guys. In fact one of them was in college, and had to be in class at 8:00 am the next morning to dissect a frog. I asked if they met Bon Jovi and they said no. Bon Jovi walked by them as they were doing their soundcheck but never came over to meet them. I think that is so messed up and shows the arrogance of Bon Jovi. What stars would not stop to meet their opening band??

Anyways, Bon Jovi was okay, not worth the money, and do not compare to real bands that can charge $325/ticket, like KISS. Their arrogance was demonstrated on stage, as the whole show was about Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora.... please. I don't think Richie Sambora even comes close to the pioneering George Lynch or a Warren DeMartini from that era... on a good note, they played Runaway and Wanted Dead or Alive.

Gotta say before I got big into metal, Bon Jovi was hands down my favorite band. Wouldn't really pay to see them now unless I got a free ticket (which I didn't for the D.C. show ) There new stuff just doesn't compare to the old though, especially now that they are so country influenced. Seeing Runaway and Wanted Dead Or Alive would have been cool though, along with Bad Medicine and Livin' on a Prayer.

You're right about all of their new stuff. I was a bigger fan in the 80's, but 3/4's of their setlist was nothing that I had heard before....

The best Bon Jovi album is These Days and they desperately need to play more off of it.

If they did that I'd actually pay to see them.
That, "Dry County", a few of the best tracks off Bounce and Keep the Faith, and some typical hits would make for a fantastic show I think.
