Finntroll -- Hollywood, CA -- April 25th, 2010

Finntroll and Moonsorrow were fucking awesome. Swallow The Sun were alright. Actually loved Moonsorrow more than Finntroll. Their 25-minute song at the end of their set was fucking amazing. The vocalist and guitarist also came out to do backing vocals on the 2nd last song of Finntroll's set (if I remember correctly).

Crowd was good and in its voice tonight. Good weekend at the HOB! Sonata followed by Finntroll

Finntroll Set list:

Gah. Really disappointed that the stop here is 19+. Would've loved to see Moonsorrow and Finntroll; and I'm sure it would have been a great introduction to Swallow The Sun. Thanks for the setlist. Any pictures/interviews?

nice to see Eliytres in there. but no Jaktens Tid?? or Rivfader? oh well. i would've liked to go to this show last night but too expensive and i've seen Finntroll 2x already. i love House of Blues Holllywood but seriously the shows there are way overpriced. $25 + 12 charges is too much for a show like this in my opinion. i paid that much for Arch Enemy but it was worth it 'cause i really wanted to see Arsis and Exodus. on this tour Moonsorrow doesn't interest me much, and i've seen Swallow the Sun before and they didn't do anything for me.

I wasn't shooting this one. My photographer will put up the pictures soon. I interviewed Finntroll and Moonsorrow and those will be up soon as well!

Here's the Moonsorrow set, basically the same set as the rest of this tour, with song 2 being the only one they've been changing up. Clocked in at 55 minutes.

1. Jumalten Kaupunki/Tuhatvuotinen Perintö
2. Köyliönjärven Jäällä (Pakanavedet II) This song has been changing every few shows this tour, but I'm glad we got this one, it got the crowd bouncing.
3. Pimeä
4. Tulimyrsky (Ville said they were playing parts 5 through 9. It cut off about 13 minutes of the beginning.)
5. Aurinko Ja Kuu

Swallow the Sun definitely plays their stuff well, I just couldn't get into it. Singer is kind of but I'll say it looked intentional.

Moonsorrow just slayed. Fun show, good set, cool ass people too. Not a dickhead in the bunch as far as I saw. Also the old guy in the pit I think I've seen him there before. Moonsorrow looked happy with the turnout in LA, and also lol at "HE KILLED HIM".

Finntroll was excellent too. I don't know them as well as Moonsorrow, but enough to recognize about 1/2 the set. Serious band, plays their stuff tight. Crowd very into it.

Agree that HOB, even though a great venue, is financial rape. Drove up from San Diego and hit happy hour down the street before the show and was like lol. But the night was so killer, I ended up getting a few there too and HOB was like LOL. No regrets, the LA run is always a pricey one for us.

Kinda like Korpiklaani playing after Moonsorrow and Primordial on Paganfest, i think Finntroll hurt themselves here by being the "fun" band playing after a "serious" band
