New DAYS OF THE NEW requires fan support
Travis Meeks is finally about to start recording the fourth Days of The New project, but wants to stay clear of record labels.
Fans can pre-order for $15 including worldwide shipping, or donate any amount they wish to the project, at http://www.daysofthenewpresentstreecolors.com/ Travis has promised "surprises" for those who help to fund the album, including two unreleased tracks as downloads very soon. Already pre-ordered mine.

Since they want to stay clear of the record companies, they should do like Nine Inch Nails and offer their album for FREE download.

The NIN thing wasn't that great a thing anyway. The quality of the free copy was shit. Also, this is to fund the recording of the album. A free download won't help with that.

I'm glad you're optimistic, ravenheart, but I feel like you might be on the verge of getting ripped off. It costs more than $15 to record an album, and you're hoping that however many people it will require to pre-order will actually do so - you pre-ordered something that hasn't even been recorded yet. If they don't get enough money who's to stop them from indefinitely stalling until they do?

A new DOTN album is a big deal, so I'm happy to contribute even at this early stage.

I wouldn't mind if a band I really cared about did this, I'd probably gladly pay $15 up front to guarantee me a copy upon release - as long as it was a band I could count on to release a quality album, or at the very least one that had never released an album I would want to sell after purchasing it.

The royalties from Johnny Cash alone pay for this several times over. It's a whole different thing to trying to project the same concept onto most other artists.

FLAC is a gimmick if you ask me. theres no way your ears can tell the difference between a FLAC file and an MP3 recorded at 320kbps, its just an audio placebo imo.
