Shrinebuilder -- Echo Park, CA -- March 3rd, 2010
Just got home from this show. I got there right when A Storm of Light went on. They were loud and heavy as fuck. I suggest everyone check them out. Their singer/guitarist is Josh from Neurosis. I picked up their vinyl Forgive Us Our Trespasses and got a free dl of the cd with it. They only played for bout 25 minutes, which sucked cause I wanted to hear more from them. Shrinebuilder went on next and were fucking great! Shrinebuilder has to be the loudest band I have yet to see, and thats saying a lot cause I've seen over 100 bands, like Dying Fetus, Metallica, Pentagram, Saint Vitus and EHG, these guys were way louder, I've never had my ears hurt like they do right now. It was great seeing Wino play guitar. They only played for an hour, did their cd in its entirety plus one more song, a Joy Division cover. I was expecting to hear a few more songs cause I saw a setlist from another show that was 9 songs long instead of just 6 tonight, I'm going to try to make it again tomorrow night

did Shrinebuilder headline? I'm seeing them with Wolves in the Throne Room next week and I'm not sure if I'm gonna stay for them, I don't know a lot about them. But I didn't know Wino was in it, hm.....

I take it you've never seen Sunn O))) then? I'd say that was the loudest show I've ever been to.

Since when was WITTR opening for Shrinebuilder?

I was kinda hoping they would do the entire album plus a Sleep cover but I'm psyched to see this too.

Yeah they did headline, there were two opening acts. Even if you don't know the cd, stay for them. Wino plays lead guitar/vocals, Al from SleepOm does bass/vocals, Scott from Neurosis does vocals/guitar and Dave from Melvins is the drummer, great mix of awesome musicians. And you're a lucky bastard for getting WITTR on the same bill as Shrinebuilder!

Not yet, but that is on my to do list, I got a chance to see them in the summer of 08 I think, not to sure, but I wasn't big on them and heard it was going to be an instrumental set of just guitar and bass for that tour so I was skeptical about going.

They're playing just some random ass show at NYU for a wopping $5 ($2 for NYU students). Salome is on the bill as well.

I like where your head's at, but I don't think it's legal for anyone to play Neurosis except Neurosis. It's just not done, and for good reason.
