The new Manticora album Safe is fantastic. They're a Prog band but I'd highly recommend this to the thrash fans. Definitely check it out if you haven't.

As for the Firewind, it would be one of about 5 runner-ups to my list. I love them, but I can't help but think the new album was really pedestrian. There's only like 5 or 6 songs I really really like and want to listen to. Some OK stuff, and some definite filler. |

My new favorite release of 2010, hands down, goes to Oceano. There's no deathcore album that can top Contagion. I thought I'd download it just for the lulz, but I was totally blown away and as embarrassing as that should be to admit, I feel no shame. It's like they turned up their brutality level to 150%. You may be asking yourself, "How is this possible?" It just fucking is. It's so brutal I can't explain the epic brutalness taking place. The breakdowns raped my virgin ears and had me uncontrollably headbanging. Adam's vocals sound like cute farm animals being tortured to their deaths. The guitars sound like machines crushing the bones of small children. The blast beats are more intense than anything George Kollias (of Nile) could pull off. You best pick this shit up, bros. You have to experience it for yourself to truly understand how incredibly brutal this shit is. The feeling it gives me is most comparable to the time I took the biggest shit of my life. It's just that good.

^Really?, I might check it out now. Anyways, Son Of Auerlius's record really impressed me. It's a great progessive tech-death release that reminds a lot of The Faceless. Check it out if you haven't already.

And I highly doubt their drummer is better than George Kolias.
