Of what I have so far:
1. Orphaned Land - The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR 2. Ihsahn - After 3. Sigh - Scenes from Hell 4. Gamma Ray - To The Metal 5. Dark Tranquillity - We Are The Void 6. Arsis - Starve For The Devil 7. Dream Evil - In The Night Still have stuff to hear, mainly JOP, Overkill, Royal Hunt, and Rage. Of those up there, OL and Ihsahn are both really strong contenders already for Top 10 material. Sigh is really good, too, but will depend on what else comes out this year. 13 days until Tarot! (Which I'll be preordering at the beginning of the month once I have money) |

Quote:
All the songs sound the same, and above all Ripper is totally out of place. The tracks Christy has written do not suit his vocals at all. And I agree, they sound rough and incomplete too. Massive disappointment as I always look forward to anything with Ripper on vocals.

Hold on. Just finished listening to the new Exodus, and we have a new leader. Fucking outstanding.
Listening to the new Battalion now. Also fantastic.

I forgot Heathen. I don't think I've ever been more shocked by a cd. maybe my expectations were really low but that cd kicks serious ass and is fast as balls.

That new Heathen is indeed bitchin, long time comin (I remember when they first aired the demo back in '05 on Metal Zone on the Bone back when Billy Steel was still DJ). Read a cool review of the new Cathedral that gots me stoked on it too. Good things

No doubt. I'd say 2010 is starting off better than anyone expected. I've liked every cd I've listened to. Even Rob Zombie wasn't hateful but once again my expectations were very low...
