Here's what I got so far:

1-3. (Not sure on the order): High on Fire - Snakes For the Divine, Ihsahn - After, and Triptykon - Eparistera Daimones
4. Orphaned Land - The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR
5. Dark Tranquillity - We Are the Void
6. Overkill - Ironbound
7. Fear Factory - Mechanize
8. Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe 2

still want to pick up the new Mortemia, Hour of Penance, Lightning Swords of Death, Unleashed, Darkthrone, Kalmah, Immolation, Barren Earth, and Ragnarok.

Well, if this puts things in the proper perspective:

I haven't heard hype one about the album - I just simply "obtained" myself a copy prior to eventual purchase if I like it (if you know what I mean ), and I listened to it.

First listen, had the same impression as you did.
Second listen, really started liking it more.
Third listen and beyond...it's really growing on me. Not a boring song on the album, really. They're not blazing much new ground here, but then again neither do Amon Amarth and most of the other so-called stalwarts of this genre. There's not much new under the sun with regards to Viking death metal, but the fact that Unleashed manages to keep it interesting after all these years has me sold. That, and I've never seen them live yet. Since their new album doesn't suck, I think it's finally time to remedy that situation. I almost went last year, but shit got fuxored between me and the person I was supposed to go with. Not this time - not again!

I've yet to hear any albums from this year but I want to listen to:

Gamma Ray - To The Metal
Blaze Bayley - Promise And Terror
High on Fire - Snakes for the Divine
Burzum - Belus
Avantasia - The Wicked Symphony/Angel of Babylon
Scorpions - Sting in the Tail
White Wizzard - Over the Top

I'll get around to it someday.

So that's actually coming out this year? Should be interesting.

I don't think I've ever anticipated an album like I have Heliocentric...Precambrian totally ruled.

You can probs add Cormorant to that list too. They don't know when they can record, so it's tough for them to know when the album's out. They seem to think it'll be out by the end of 2010 though.

I don't like it. Musically love it, vocally hate it. So we're in the minus overall.

This probably means existing fans will love it.
