I honestly prefer the music of more recent years in terms of a lot of aspects. It's just that the 80s are so much easier to just agree upon because the majority of us all love a lot of the same records from that decade.

Yeah, I probably prefer the 2000s as well, but that's kind of a natural result of getting into metal in the 2000s. There's easily dozens of bands of little-known status from the 80s who I'll never hear because their reputations haven't survived to the present or I don't know where to look. I don't know that the 2000s are necessarily the best decade, but I've certainly heard more stuff from them than any other.

It's great. My friend Chris is 39 and knows about a ton of the lesser known/forgotten metal acts of the mid-to-late 80s since he was basically on my level of musical fanaticism back then. Also great because he never lost that interest and he and I can talk for seriously hours about all different facets of music. However, as a result of his age and constant love of music, his CD collection is over 5,000-strong.

W.A.S.P. 17 Judas Priest Defenders Of The Faith 16 Dio Holy Diver 15 Accept Balls To The Wall 14 Sepultura Beneath The Remains 13 Slayer Show No Mercy 12 Metallica Kill 'Em All 11 Metal Church Metal Church 10 Slayer Hell Awaits 9 Iron Maiden Iron Maiden 8 Iron Maiden Somewhere In Time 7 Metallica …And Justice For All 6 Iron Maiden Powerslave 5 Iron Maiden Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 4 Metallica Master Of Puppets 3 Metallica Ride The Lightning 2 Iron Maiden Piece Of Mind 1 Iron Maiden The Number Of The Beast on a side note, Venom was one of my top bands back then but I cannot find them any place on my list with any of their classic first 3 records Cheers !
