Honestly, that's not appealing to me either. As a spectator, sure, but I don't think I'd want to be in a crowd for something like what those dudes did, or even a Dead Kennedys/Black Flag/Minor Threat type show. Converge was un-fun enough twice.

Regardless, at least we can agree those guys/bands are all in another universe compared to the other bands mentioned in this thread.

In terms of "would I want to listen to them" they are, and in terms of "does the violence at their shows seem more justified and less about macho posturing," absolutely. I just wouldn't want to get hit by dudes I respect any more than I'd wanna get hit by dudes I don't.

Poison Idea is fucking awesome.
I'm pretty sure Amebix or Iskra would rip apart any bands in the first post.

In a serious answer to the question, Lamb of God, Machine Head, Slayer, Pantera, bands of that ilk.
In response to the punk discussion going on a post or two up, I didn't go to Agnostic Front in Dublin this year for two reasons, firstly, I got the date wrong and it was inconvenient for me, and secondly, some kid got stabbed in the head in Belfast in 2003 at one of their shows. Those bands attract violence that no metal band will ever equal. And of course in response to the scenester bashing going on, it is true, but the balance has tipped towards genuine fans for Lamb of God. Besides, we were all scenesters once.

![]() GISM. Sakevi is probably only rivaled by GG Allin as far as violent frontmen. He threw knives, mic stands and rocks, assaulted crowdmembers with gas burners and chainsaws, burnt down record stores selling bootlegs, attacked pop singers on live tv, and was constantly battling the law outside of GISM. ![]() Blasphemy. Extremely violent bodybuilding war metal types, and know what? They can't come to the US because they have criminal records for RANDOM VIOLENCE AND ROBBING FUCKING GRAVES . ![]() Hanatarash. Insane Japanese noise shit known for extremely violent and short shows involving machetes, various vehicles, dead animals and all sorts of other mayhem. ![]() Anal Cunt. Hopefully they don't really need an explanation. Comparing any sort of new metal band to these is blasphemy. Last edited by Wizzbang11; 02-09-2010 at 03:00 PM. |
