I wouldn't have said an argument is necessary. A less than nothing storyline, needless, unrelated scenes included purely for showing-off effects, a reverse engineered script from the one-liners backwards, and the blatant setting up of a sequel from roughly half way through negating the point of really carrying any further with the movie make all the points needed

And being the best Marvel movie to date is no accolade.

And sadly that last point is fairly true, but I think Iron Man and X2: X-Men United are both great flicks.

I can't stand any of the X-Men films, but Spider-Man 1 and 2 and dem waertchmaenz were awesome films too. Kick-Ass looks fun as hell.

I saw the full trailer for this last week. Fuck me it looks awful. Seriously, it's cheap Superbad-laughs in spandex. They even have Christopher Mintz-Plasse playing the EXACT same character. What the fuck?

What with this and his completely pointless character in Sherlock Holmes Mark Strong should be ashamed of himself.

Have you seen the red-band trailer(s)? If you're going by the sanitized ones, it looks like crap, but it's going to be ultra-violent and profane. If you don't want to see a movie where an 11 year-old girl calls a room full of bad guys "cunts" before hacking them to pieces, I feel sorry for you. You're probably not much fun at parties.

I enjoyed the second X-Men too. The third was dreadful, and the first was pointless because it was so blatantly written as the first episode in a series, but the second was solid. I haven't seen Wolverine yet.

Hated all of the Spider-Man films, Daredevil, Punisher: Warzone and pretty much both Hulk movies. The first Punisher (the Thomas Jane one) was alright. At least it was suitably dark.

That is precisely the cheap, blatant, tabloid-level stuff I'm talking about. Mindless stupidity playing on the "shock" value of the girl's age.

And that seems to be, from both what I've read and what I've seen, all this movie has going for it.

Kick-Ass doesn't look nearly as good to me as it does to everyone else in comics. I might end up seeing it on a whim out of curiosity but my expectations will remain low.
