Feats of Strength

Now that all of the grievances have been aired, who/what were you proud of/impressed by this year and what were your feats of strength?

I'm impressed at how much rose funeral sucks dick. How the hell is it possible to be so bad at your instruments and still have fans?

To Phil McSorley of Cobalt: Thanks for being super cool in our interview and giving me a momentary reminder of why I want to be a journalist. Also, thanks for making the best album of 2009.

To basketball, metal, and comic books: Thanks for keeping me from killing myself.

To women: This wasn't my year for you, and that's cool, but if you throw me a bone in 2010 I'll add you to the list with basketball, metal, and comics.

To me: You're the fucking man, bro.

Wrong thread broham.

Let me start fresh: 3 (fairly) big names in rock music got together to make a great album, and tour behind it. John Paul Jones is relevant for the first time in 30 years

2009 was not my year at all, unless you count that I went to a million concerts!

This year I lived to see my 19th birthday, I got into college (with lots of scholarships) and enjoying both the new found independence and appreciation for my family and friends, pulled off a 3.8 GPA my first quarter, got into comics and graphic novels (open to recommendations), got into beer (Shiner Bock is great), started brewing mead, there was an assload of albums released this year (I also discovered torrents ), explored and challenged my political and religious beliefs, developed a hatred for dorm life, communal bathrooms, Ed Hardy, people that wear Northface jackets, and scene hxc dancers, started paying more attention to college football and basketball, got crash courses in kung fu and racquetball, worked an internship, got my hair cut.....but I still didn't get laid.

I've had my ups and downs, friends made and friends lost, but it has been a pretty damn good year otherwise!

to the DC++ network on campus: thank you. i am forever in your debt. i did a rough estimate and found that i used you to steal over $10,000 in copywrited material. i love you so much and im going to miss you now that im living off campus.

to Mark Sisson: thank you for writing your blog (marks daily apple). your evolutionary-based diet and fitness advice has helped me get in shape and effortlessly lose weight without starving myself. i prefer to eat sausages instead of toast anyway. fuck trendy diets. you rock man.

to music: thank you for another great year. i honestly dont know where my life would be without you.

im grateful for more stuff but im tired now, will add more later.

to the IU metal club: Thank you for existing and letting me run my yap. I kinda wish you guys were more available for outside socialization though.

Lars Ulrich: You have managed to keep your mouth shut for a whole year! Good boy! Keep it shut for another, and I just might replace my skipping copy of Ride The Lightning the official way.

Doug Walker (aka- the Nostalgia Critic): Holy shit, you are our generation's Peter Sellers! I apologize for not getting into you sooner, but keep on giving us the good shit.

and me- after about a year and a half of academic floundering, I finally got my GPA up to an acceptable average again!
