I know I'm the only person who thinks this, but I always considered Necroticism to be a thrash album.

Agree to disagree. If it is grindcore, it's the best fucking grindcore album of all time.

It and Heartwork are definitely thrashy in nature.
That out of nowhere riff in Corporal Jigsore Quandry (the one after the solo), the last part of Carneous Cacophony and plenty of nifty little things throughout both albums are pretty far removed from death metal and certainly seem to have inspired many thrash songs.

It would actually be 2 for me, Reek being number one
I didn't put it on my list because I didn't want to double up bands in individual lists. Possibly how Impetigo snuck into the Death Metal one...

Fuck, I guess I'll give thrash a try.

1. Vio-lence: Eternal Nightmare
2. Dark Angel: Darkness Descends
3. Metallica: Ride The Lightning
4. Slayer: Reign In Blood (aesthetic reasons)
5. Sepultura: Beneath The Remains
5. Megadeth: Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?
6. Exodus: Bonded By Blood
7. Overkill: Taking Over
8. Kreator: Coma of Souls
9. Venom: Black Metal

Among is merely thrash, where as Persistence is, to quote Ultra Boris, "Mother of God! Epic Thrash!"
