Thanks man. The Walk Of Death is one of my favorite songs to play live. Now we have a full time singer and Bassist the songs has gotten 100x better.

Shattered: Recording Session, Day 1

As I last said I last promoted my band. We gained a new singer and bassist (The bassist in the video was a fill in who offered to learn the songs in an hour and a half and go on stage with us) This will be the first recording of us as a full band!

After about two hours of setting everything up. We only had enough time to do a quick run through of 2 songs on the drums. They were rough run through but when I listened back to the takes they sounded phenomenal for the setup we got. Of course there are a couple mistakes in the tracks but for a first take it is really damn good. I've never recorded myself outside of a live setting. So hearing the playback is just awesome to me. I'm actually starting to believe that I might kickass behind the drums!

Monday the real recording begins. Once we get the songs recorded and mixed properly we'll be posting them up on our Myspace, Facebook, Youtube for all of you to enjoy.

For those interested this is my recording setup:

Drums- 1988 Pearl Export in Ferrari (AKA Neil Peart, Moving Pictures) Red

12x8 Rack Tom (Shure 57)
14x8 Vinnie Paul Signature Snare (Shure 57)
16x16 Floor Tom (Shure 57)
22x16 Bass Drum (Shure 52)
*AKG D-9000 mic for overhead*

(I have a full scale 9 piece double bass kit, but unfortunately not enough mics)

Cymbals- Various

11" Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Splash
14" Zildjian A Mastersound Hi-Hats
16" Zildjian K Custom Dark Crash
18" Zildjian A Medium-Thin Crash
18" Wuhan China *Newly fixed*
19" Sabian Vault Crash
22" Sabian Paragon Ride

*almost all of my cymbals excluding a couple splashes and Zil-Bel*

Thanks again for the support! Will report back on this Monday for Day 2

Day 2:

All drum tracks are recorded all my drum tracks. I hit a new record with how fast my double bass is playing. I don't have the official BPM, but to me it's just mind blowing how fast I pulled off my double bass. It's on the song The Walk Of Death

Guitar and Bass tracks start Wednesday!

Day 4 is done. The final guitar tracking (The Fury) is done and Bass is complete for The Fury, The Walk Of Death, and Eternal Burn.

Day 5 is Wednesday, where we will complete the bass for The Fury and start the lead and backup vocals.

It's went awesome man. I'm just going to be editing/mixing/mastering as much as I can by myself at home (Since I have all the musci stored on my external Harddrive) so it will be less work for everyone else. We're taking a few days off to relax and get back together on Wednesday for a full day of Band editing/mixing/mastering then we're offically done with the E.P. Then a party that weekend filled with Metalocalypse and Pizza.

Our singer came up with a really badass album cover for the E.P. once we get it finalized I'll post it up here.

It's been a while since I've updated this so I figured it was time to give a proper Shattered update.

We now have 10 fully written songs and we'll be hitting the studio in July for our first album. We cover the gamete from Technical Thrash to Prog to Power Metal, with a Damnation era Opeth Ballad as well. We debuted all of our songs at our last few shows and they all went over extremely well with the crowds. We also shoot live footage of 9 of the 10 new songs that as soon as they are ready I'll post on here.

We have a pretty badass promo picture that we've been using:

We have plenty of shows getting booked as I speak. SO things are going fucking awesome right now!

Be sure to check us out on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ShatteredWI *BTW the REAL Dave Mustaine is now a fan of ours on Facebook
