Chimaira -- Orlando, FL -- December 12th, 2009

This one's going to be short since I basically only went for Chimaira.

Doors were at 5:30 PM and I got there around 4:00 PM. I was actually very surprised at how the big the line was already, but it was basically filled with a bunch of scene kids. Doors opened and the show began.

Dirge Within was actually better than I expected. Very entertaining band and I will be buying there CD sometime in the future. I have no idea what there set was.

Whitechapel was.......umm........I'm trying to think of the right description here........a combination of poop and dirt. They were bad when I saw them 2 years ago, they were bad this summer, and they were bad this time around. All the songs sounded the same, they use that bass drop sampler right before every fucking breakdown, the bassist has no skill whatsoever but thinks hes the king of the world. I don't know man, I can't understand why in the fuck they are so popular but to each his own.

FINALLY, Chimaira came on. And their setlist surprised the fuck out of me.

1. The Dehumanizing Process
2. Resurrection
3. Power Trip
4. Empire
5. Severed (with Andols drum solo)
6. Secrets Of The Dead
7. Needle (just for their tour manager who was no longer going to be with them after this tour)
8. Worthless (with Jason Suecof on guest vocals)
9. Pure Hatred

For some reason, their sound was not as loud as it should been. I couldn't hear myself talk during the first 2 bands, but I could hear myself singing along during their set. The band noticed the sound was fucked up too, but they just kept on treking. Chimaira have also added these fog machines to their stage, and it added alot to the show. These things would shoot up jets of fog and it looked very bad ass. This is probably the best setlist that I have ever seen them play in a supporting slot and this set was a surprise since I was expecting the typical set they had been playing. Highlights of the night: Severed, Needle, Worthless, and the last minute of Secrets of the Dead. It was heavy as fuck live and the crowd went ape shit.

I left before Trivium came on and I'm guessing they changed up their set since they were playing their hometown.

Nice Chimaira set. I was lucky enough to get all these songs - plus six more (including "Painting the White to Grey ) - for the low, low price of [FUCKING FREE!!!] last June, when Chimaira played a secret MySpace show at the Grog Shop.

Every once in a great, great while...being from Cleveland has its advantages.

(Here's the show review from Petrovar with comments by yours truly: http://www.metalsetlists.com/showthread.php?t=10476)

Wow, they only choose to play one song from the Infection, and it's the worst song on the album.
