One of these things is not like the other.

I barely venture outside of metal.
I like your standard hard rock bands.
I don't like rap very much...
But I think that Eminem is the shit

I gotta admit, I misread/misunderstood the intention of this thread. All of the stuff I listed is stuff I do, currently listen to, at least to some extent. "Guilty Pleasure Music" if you will. Not stuff I USED TO like that I am now "ashamed of".

Yeah, but I don't really feel shame for music I USED TO listen to... I mean I just didn't know better. At the time, I liked what I knew there was to like.

My greatest shame was that for a short while before completely changing my mind, when I was 12 or so, I thought Maiden were "gay".

i guess i didn't explain the intention of this thread well enough. i didn't exactly mean ashamed, but more in the sense where you moved on from that music, but you still listen to it every now and then, but you wouldn't tell your metalhead friends or most people in general that you still listen to it. maybe that makes more sense.

Yeah, if I don't listen to it now, I'm not ashamed to say so. In terms of musical evolution, everything just leads to something else. Most of what I USED TO listen to, even if I relisten now, I can usually "get" what I saw in it then, even though it's not really up my alley anymore. I mean, the last music that I actively listened to that I "grew out of" and don't listen to anymore was a good 5 years ago. As most of you folk know, I've been pretty consistent in my musical style(s) over the past several years.
