The Human Instrument Sad Man's Tongue Hallelujah Goat ?? Pool of Booze, Booze, Booza Angelfuck (Misfits cover) Still Counting (with Slayer "Raining Blood" outro) The timings were: 7:00 - 7:30 Volbeat 7:45 - 8:30 Lamb Of God 9:10 - end Metallica

It's actually a smart move by the band they wanna make sure that not only they have to energy to go all the way through the set but you gotta make sure you don't burn out the crowd and make sure they keep the energy up for the whole show. Metallica used to do sets with Fade, Sanitarium, One and Unforgiven in them all the time. So it's not like it's anything new for them to play some slower ones. It's really does help pace things out better for everyone involved. Do you really think Lars could play drums like he does live for two hours every show without a few ballads thrown in so he can catch his breath? Last edited by Sanitarium78; 11-15-2009 at 09:09 AM. |

It used to be in the sets all the time before they started rotating songs around live in 2004. They're always rotating a song off KEA in that spot every night so it still does show up some regularity still.

Metalheads need a "break?" What is this world coming to? I'm paying to rock out, not sit and watch aimlessly as a band plays a no-talent song. |

I don't listen to Metallica, I just saw that you said they played 3 ballads. That's a bit to many for a "thrash metal" band to be playing. |

OK that's cool but even I wouldn't consider Metallica thrash anymore. Yes they still play the old thrash stuff live but they certainly aren't that now. They've been writting ballads ever since RTL and they've always been part of their live sets I guess some people just don't like that kinda stuff. Even though Fade, Sanitarium and One get fast and heavy during the second half of the song and aren't ballads all the way through like that peice of crap song NEM.

Overall the show was good, but I was slightly disappointed with Metallica's setlist. Realistically they could have dropped "Holier Than Thou" and 1 of the Death Magnetic songs for something better. I was actually fine with hearing "Turn The Page" since I hadn't heard that one live before, but even still, that song wasn't exactly a highlight.
On the other hand, "Fight Fire With Fire", "Helpless" and "Whiplash" were awesome. ![]() Here's my pictures from the show: http://pictures.leglessmoof.net/v/concerts/2009_11_14/
