Type O Negative -- New York, NY -- October 22nd, 2009
The first band that came on stage were pretty cool. Dead Man Dreaming, I think they were called. The music was cool, a couple of their riffs were very iron maideny with STP influence in there.
After them was SEVENTH VOID, who were really cool to see live. Kenny Hickey has a great voice, and it really shows in this band. Setlist is as follows: Killing You Slow Heaven is Gone The End of All Time Shadow Over Me Closing In Broken Sky Descent Drown Inside After them was some shit band called Destrophy. I wasn't a fan, so I'm just gonna skip ahead to the band that I was there to see. Despite the fact Josh Silver wasn't on the tour (due to some type of Paramedic classes he was taking), they played really well. Pete Steele is a monster of a human being. He stopped bringing out the bottles of wine for performance. Now he has Gatorade on the stand next to his lyric sheets that reads/flips through throughout the show. Kenny was all over the place and spot on, riff wise. Johnny was doing what he does best, as always. Even the guy from Dio was rockin out. The set is as follows: Dead Again In Priase Of Bacchus N.I.B. Halloween In Heaven The Profits Of Doom Love You To Death Christian Woman Wolf Moon Anesthesia World Coming Down --------ENCORE-------- Black No.1 (Little Miss Scare-All) |

Nice set. Wish they did more old stuff or threw in a Carnivore tune or 2. Any word on a new cd not that Pete has his legal drama behind him?

yea, i was really upset they didn't play a lot of things, but the NIB cover, Dead Again, Wolf Moon, and Anesthesia really made up for it. It would have been cool to hear My Girlfriend's Girlfriend, All Hail and Farewell to Britain, We Hate Everyone, Too Late: Frozen, or September Sun, but, oh well. Maybe they'll play those next tour...

If they're only doing 11 songs, I'd rather see an original than a cover.

This is actually a good set for them. It's well balanced and we get something off everything from Bloody Kisses to Dead Again. For anyone who comments about the set length you must not really know much about them live. They aren't that known for playing tons of songs to begin with. Plus with the length of some of their songs an 11 song set turns out to be longer than one might think.
I wouldn't get my hopes up on hearing much of anything off LIKM since they hardly played anything off it when they toured for it and Anesthesia seems to be the only song they've kept in the set since that tour. When I saw them two years ago they did play September Sun and Too Late so those songs have been in recently. It's also nice to see that after 2 years they realised that they should be opening with Dead Again. Which they should've did back when the album came out. I'm also happy that they've kept World Coming Down in the set. I know some people don't really like that album but i've always liked it a lot. That album actually helped me a lot when I was going through a very dark time in my life. |

Carnivore tunes...
I've seen type O 16 times and while they often play covers they have never played any Carnivore tunes. Peter has said in interviews that he prefers to keep the two bands seperate entities.

Actually I've seen them play Jesus Hitler as Type O. Maybe because I yelled it 20 times though. I've also have Sex & Violence on a Type O bootleg I think
