Last.fm

My play counts are kinda weird because I used Last.fm for a little bit a few years ago, stopped for awhile, and then started again a few months ago.

I know there have been a few topics about this in the past but I couldn't find any recent ones so I figured I'd go ahead and start another.

Charts are kinda weird because I listen to most of my music from a non-computer source.

So, how come there's no Metalsetlists group on Last.fm?

Basically, you download a piece of software which sits and quietly clocks what you listen to. It's not running all the time, it just fires up when you start up one of the music players on your computer.

And if you're part of a group, your listening contributes to the group listening. It charts it all too.

The site itself recommends bands to you based on what you've listened to (it takes a while to get good recommendations, but eventually once it's satisfied that you like Iron Maiden and all the other obvious ones, it works well).

It also does things like calendars of events. Practically every event in Europe gets put on there, so you can just tick off what you're going to and it'll recommend similar events in your area). I don't know how comprehensive it is for the US, but adding an event is quick and easy.

You should put Necromance on there. It's very well used in Europe, and if you get Necromance linked up with applicable artists, however the back-end for bands works, it'll help to get you recommended to people who listen to the appropriate bands.
