Motorhead -- Detroit, MI -- September 1st, 2009
The Motorcity Casino got demolished last night as Motorhead and friends took stage and blew everyone away. I read reports earlier that Mickey Dee may not of been there because of a reality TV show he is doing...but he was there, and that made the show just epic. Nashville Pussy opened but only caught the last three songs from them, cause my friends wanted to eat, and there was no reentry once we were in the Sound Board (the concert venue within the Casino). Reverend Horton Heat played next and he was much better than i thought he would be. His songs were really catchy, and the song titles were funny. I got this setlist from (http://consequenceofsound.net/2009/0...-of-blues-830/), all except Death Metal Guys. So this is most likely what they played. and 90 percent of the songs i know they played.
-Reverend Horton Heat- Reverend Horton Heat’s Big Blue Car Now, Right Now I’m Mad Ain’t No Saguaro In Texas Drinkin’ And Smokin’ Cigarettes Please Don’t Take The Baby To The Liquor Store Psychobilly Freakout Baddest Of The Bad 400 Bucks Death Metal Guys The Jimbo Song Devil’s Chasin’ Me Big Red Rocket Of Love As for Motorhead i didn't need to look up there setlist at all, as i am quite the fan. The setlist is the same as the summer shows they did, and pretty much from past years as well. But its those itsy bitsy minor changes that i love so much. Dr. Rock replaced by Iron Fist. The removal of Rosalie, another Motorizer song (only got one last year in Grand Rapids), and.....BOMBER! Seeing this was my third time seeing them, first time being the Metal Masters tour last year, than on the Volcom tour, i was quite content. The band seemed to be really enjoying themselve and thats always a plus, there was less crowd interaction, but they played song after song which gave it a nice punk vibe. This was also a 21+ plus show, which everyone knows means boring, because people just stand around slightly nodding there heads which isn't metal or rock n roll. So during "Rock Out" i started to a mosh pit and that changed the atmosphere from dull to epic. Killed By Death and Bomber, had the best pits imo. -MOTORHEAD- 1. Iron Fist 2. Stay Clean 3. Be My Baby 4. Rock Out 5. Metropolis 6. Over The Top 7. One Night Stand 8. I Got Mine 9. The Thousand Names of God 10. Another Perfect Day 11. In The Name of Tragedy 12. Jus Cos You Got The Power 13. Going To Brazil 14. Killed By Death 15. Bomber ----------------- 16. Whorehouse Blues 17. Ace of Spades 18. Overkill |

Great review- saw them in Atlantic City on 9/5- amazing set. One thing I have to respond to though in your review. I'm 43, been going to concerts for almost 30 years. I'd guess that about 80% of the crowd was with in the 30-50 age range and was as loud as any crowd I've been a part of. My friend and I were on the floor for this show, back by the soundboard and away from any pits. When the band kicked into Ace of Spades, some boneheads started a pit and kept slamming into us. I spent most of Ace trying to shield myself and the woman I was with from being hurt. If that's what you're into, have a ball but don't interfere with my enjoyment by slamming into me. It's not your job to change what you perceive to be "dull" crowd to "epic". Your role is to have as much fun as humanly possible without interfering with the rights of others to do the same.

I don't mosh at shows I don't mind that other people do for me it makes for a very cool visual. But at a Motorhead show I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there was no moshing since a lot of their fans maybe older and not into that at all. Quite fankly I think moshing takes away from enjoying the actually show. You're there to WATCH the band perform but when you mosh all you're not really paying attention to the band you gotta watch your ass more and make sure you don't get hit wrong but to each their own. As long as they're not those annoying fuckin kids who throw fists and do those stupid ass spin kicks as their way of "Moshing" then i'm fine with it. That's the dumbest fuckin thing i've ever seen at show. What the fuck are you doing? God, they're so fucking annoying
![]() As for people who are moshing who keep bumping into people who aren't the next time someone does that do you just grab their ass and toss him into the middle of the pit. They may not get the point but at least you can get some fustration out over being hit when you don't wanna be |
