Baroness -- San Francisco, CA -- July 22nd, 2009
Good times.
Lionize sounds like Clutch in a parallel universe of reggae, which make sense because I didn't figure out why 'til Clutch came on. For me the highlight of their set was definitely the cover of "I And I Survive" courtesy of Bad Brains. Fucking amazing. At the beginning of the set I look around and can see less people than I can count on my hands that actually care what is happening onstage. I'm stoked as hell, and thinking that this room will be the next generation of 50 year olds who can say, "Judas Priest? I saw them opening for AC/DC. No I don't remember what they played," but by the end of the set they had a good portion of the crowd cheering and taking pictures. We got O'Appalachia instead of Rise. I know it's nitpicking at this point but I could do without that song all together. Rays On Pinion The Birthing (Voodoo Child Tease) Isak Red Sky New O'Appalachia Wanderlust Grad There isn't much to say about Clutch that hasn't already been said. Great live band, really their music can't translate the same energy on tape. While the rest of the band is too deep in the pocket to move more than 2 feet at a time onstage, Neil is moving and singing like a black man on Sunday morning in presence of the Jesus. Correct set, courtesy of ADD Immortal Child of the City Motherless Child In the Wake of the Swollen Goat Promoter of Earthbound Causes Big News I Animal Farm Raised By Horses Gravel Road Abraham Lincoln Struck Down 50,000 Unstoppable Watts The Yeti The Amazing Kreskin The Devil & Me The Soapmakers Burning Beard ----------------------------------- The Elephant Riders Electric Worry/One Eyed Dollar As a side note: lots of guys wearing hats. And if you didn't get it the first time: LISTEN UP YOU STINKING MAGGOTS IT SEEMS YOU JUST DON'T GET IT WELL I'VE BEEN APPOINTED TO INFORM YA, YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED YOU WOULD CRY, YOU WOULD SCREAM IF YOU KNEW HALF THE THINGS I'VE SEEN PLEASE, PLEASE, JUST DO AS I SAY, REPENT AND LEAVE YOUR EVIL WAYS!

I am so pissed i have to miss this tour's stop in Cleveland. I'm gonna be in Chicago for Lollapalooza with my wife. At least I've already seen both Baroness and Clutch live before. You lucky bastard.

Dude Tony
I only WISH they'd have played Profits and Flannery Here's the correct Clutch setlist, in pretty close to the right order:Immortal Child of the City Motherless Child In the Wake of the Swollen Goat Promoter of Earthbound Causes Big News I Animal Farm Raised By Horses Gravel Road Abraham Lincoln Struck Down 50,000 Unstoppable Watts The Yeti The Amazing Kreskin The Devil & Me The Soapmakers Burning Beard ----------------------------------- The Elephant Riders Electric Worry/One Eyed Dollar Baroness were good, best part was seein Baizley rep that Annihilation Time shirt Wish they would've played "Rise" but I dig that other song so it was alright. New song was the weakest of the bunch unfortunately. They are at their best when they do the twin guitar thing. Great stage energy all of them, the drummer is excellent too. They got a well-deserved reception. Clutch..... "Promoter" made me and my brother's night. Crowd was really into it, well it started off kinda mellow then shit got hella maney when they did "Animal Farm" and the pit just opened up almost across the entire floor. They own that "Gravel Road" jam, and they much improved "Electric Worry". I'll see Clutch anytime its possible.

I must have mixed them up. Not like it's a hard thing to do...
That and I had to step out to get my album signed by Baizley. He and Summer were both really cool.
