I'm on facebook but really hate that my friends are bailing on myspace. The music along makes MS more relevant but people are tired of being barraged by shitty bands I guess. I like checking out new shit but don't have time to keep up.

I'm on facebook as Jayson Hill in Pasadena MD. Hit me up!

How do you find your actual URL?

Myspace's format is just horrible, I think, and the fact that people use it as a place to pimp their profile and put billions of pictures of themselves above using it for social networking is what made me delete mine. Bulletins, pc4pc, etc...it's just a whorehouse. Plus, you can still listen to bands on there without being a member (and I do).

For the record: I love Facebook.

Of all the social networking sites, I find it by far the most useful and convenient, and will probably stay on it forever provided nothing HUGE about it changes. As usual with any huge cultural thing, it has attracted a very negative perception, and some of it is not unfounded - I particularly hate how Myspace-type spam and bullshit has started to erode the site, but I think it's pretty easy to set it up and manipulate it so it's really just a great tool. Especially for music, I love it. If it wasn't for Facebook I wouldn't have half the interaction with musicians I like that I do. The personal factor of the site makes it a lot easier to actually talk to members of the bands you like, which is great for getting interviews and IDs for my radio show, and just overall awesomeness.

Also, I think it's a great promotional tool for my band - when we create events for shows, it can actually lead to many people who otherwise wouldn't know deciding to come out, and also we can get a realistic expectation of how many people will be at the gigs.

So yes, in summary - fuck the hate, I like Facebook a lot.

I think MySpace and Facebook are great for bands. But I'm just not into all they hey, look at me, here are my friends. Here are my friends drunk. Here are my friends, really really drunk. Here is a picture of my cat in a hat. This is my baby. This is my cousin's baby. blah blah blah
