Elected On an off day from the Scorpions tour, Alice was booked 75 miles up the coast for a headline gig at the 1,000 capacity Ventura Theatre. The Universal show the night before was more of an afterthought but this was the show I really wanted to see. Even had an advance ticket. Though it's commonplace now, at the time, Alice just didn't usually play small venues. When I showed up early evening I was surprised to see members of NY Loose going thru the backstage door. Turns out they were opening the show that night, a total surprise to me. Now I first discovered them a year before when someone gave me their EP on FLipside records and an additional Flipside records compilation. I fell for them HARD! Saw them 4 times in a row in August 1995 before they fell off the radar. They got signed to Hollywood Records and original guitarist Gary Sunshine (formerly of Circus Of Power) was replaced by David Diamond and they were ready to release a full length with a more polished sound. During their set in between songs I yelled "BROKEN!" and Brijite said "did somebody say Broken? You got it!" Alice's set was a few songs longer with some real gems. He busted out of a trash can at the beginning, got beheaded (i think) and during Elected numerous people in President's masks came out and starting fighting over a KFC bucket. Still my favorite Alice show! Even though the friend I was supposed to go with got injured and I ended up being stranded and just "hung out" all night til the trains started running again.
