DIO -- Lake Buena Vista, FL -- October 14th, 2004
THIS IS FROM THE IRONMAIDEN.COM BB SITE!
http://www.ironmaiden.org/showthread.php?t=20316 (USER)I RUN MADE IN Metalhead Join Date: May 2004 Location: Orlando, FL Posts: 136 DIO in Orlando report... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I just got back from the Dio/Anthrax/Fireball Ministry concert that was at House of Blues here in Orlando. My goodness, maybe one of the best shows ever? Since I am really worn out, here is the short and sweet of it: Fireball Ministry: I have never heard this band before tonight, but they were a great live band. Two girls in the band, too. Usually, that means the band will suck, but the girls were impressive for sure (guitar and bass). Anyway, I need to get one of their albums, but they were better than I thought the "opening band" would be. Anthrax: Sorry, I think Anthrax is a joke. Obviously, they are "classic" metal or whatever, but they were not very good. The lead guitarist was reallly really good though (NOT Scott Ian, he wanked). AntiSocial and Indians were my fav songs, and were really fun live. All of the newer songs sound uninspired and radio friendly to a point. Distrubed (the band) seems to be heavily influenced by Anthrax. DIO: I saw Dio last summer with Maiden and Motorhead. I didnt know any Dio stuff back then, but I enjoyed his show from a distance. It was a pavilion show, and I only knew a few songs of his, but dont worry, we still stood up during his set and gave him the respect he deserved! TONIGHT's show was much more intimate. Now, I know all of his hits, I have the new album, and have gotten to know even some of his older songs with Sabbath/Rainbow. The HOB venue is the best! We were about 3 feet from the stage the whole show. He is amazing.... thats all there is to it. He seemed very happy to be here, and gave us 3 encores! We got the most from him, and for once, an Orlando crowd genuinely made a performer feel good. DIO ROCKS! Setlist as far as I can remember (kind of in order?): One more for the road Man on the silver mountain stand up and shout gypsy sign of the southern cross last in line the eye dont talk to strangers long live rock n roll heaven and hell holy diver rainbow in the dark we rock Neon Knights "I TOUCHED DIO!" (He sucked the life out of me so he will live another ten years, I swear it) He is really nice to his fans, and he did shake a lot of hands and touched "devil" horns with many of us near the front. |

Not to take away from the report at all (it's quite good) but I think the setlist is a tad off in order, and content.

It doesn't seem like the setlist is staying exactly the same for everyone. I know in St. Pete, we did not get Neon Knights. We did get Children of the Sea and Egypt (The Chains are On). I had to contact another person just to make sure I was not imagining these two in the setlist there. They were confirmed.
