It was fucking fantastic! Phil Anselmo, Pepper Keenan, and Jimmy Bower from Down were all over the stage with Vitus. They even joined in for guest vocals on "Saint Vitus". Phil looked like he as living a childhood fantasy, screeching that chorus. He also did A nice duet with Wino for "Dying Inside". I was blown away. If you have any doubts about Vitus being rusty, or losing their chemistry, or just being too old in general..... put them to rest. I implore you, if you live in Europe, go to one of these festivals and see the masters at work.
Oh, and there were two opening bands, but I blocked them from my memory because they were decidedly mediocre. The first one was a Slayer rip-off thrash-death metal type number, they had a couple nice riffs. Definitely the better of the two openers. The second... was some kind of metalcore Lamb of God Jr. type nonsense. Their singer REALLLY wanted to be Randy Blythe, all the way down to the low ball cap. They sucked. Saaaaaaaaaint Vitus!
