If there is one genre of music I can pinpoint as the polar opposite of metal, it would be this. Doesn't mean its bad though. Anybody who's been paying attention to what I've "been playing" lately will see Sam Cooke, some of the Motown classics, and Lauryn Hill (a tad more hip/hop, but still). A lot of the vocals are definitely charming IMO. And yea some of the lyrics are a bit repetitive, but in the days of that genre's prime, executives pretty much forbade them from doing everything else. In fact, I think I read somewhere that it wasn't until Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin On" that R&B artists were allowed to be a tad more creative.
He's like "yo give me yo insurance information!" and I'm like "I didn't hit you with no car, I hit you with this mack truck I call a fist!"
