Some surprises on that KISS setlist. Such a cheesy, lame-o song, but I like Christine Sixteen.

Really good Kiss setlist given the time constraints. Hide Your Heart is a real shocker. If they keep that set I might just go see them in August.

I don't think Def Leppard will ever get rid of Two Steps Behind. It was their last really big hit in america, so they'll keep it just because of that. I'm not surprised that the set is nothing but hits because that's all most of the people who go to Def Leppard know and expect. I understand why the band doesn't do deeper cuts more often. The times i've seen them do deeper tracks the crowd didn't respond at all. People go to see the hits and at least the band knows that. They want the crowd to be into the entire show, so playing the hits makes the most sense.

I saw them 4 times in Vegas for Ded Flatbird/Def Leppard and those Ded Flatbird sets were awesome. However most people who go to Def Leppard shows (not unlike Metallica, Iron Maiden etc etc) are their for the hits (e.g. Sandman, The Trooper) and not there for the gems.

That Def Leppard set is awful except for Let it Go or Switch 625. I understand they have to play all of the hits and have a limited amount of time, but they really need to cut Two Steps Behind and Armageddon It. Play a 10 minute medley of 2 "deep cuts" from High and Dry/Pyromania/Hysteria.

I will never go see them with Tommy and Eric in makeup, but i'm pleasantly surprised by the Kiss set. Christine Sixteen is one of my favorites, glad to see they're playing it as well as Hide You Heart and Makin Love. Never really liked God of Thunder so that wouldn't be missed, but not a fan of Let Me Go Rock n Roll either. As much as I like the song, surprised they're still playing Psycho Circus. Other than that, I would probably swap out War Machine for Creatures of the Night.

I called it!

And as to the DL thing, when I saw them last time they actually pulled through. Gods Of War, Women, It's All About Believin', and that whole acoustic medley thing they did were all great things to see. If they were really worried about the crowd not responding to stuff they don't know, then they wouldn't have used Undefeated as the opener for two years. They just need to headline their own tour again so they HAVE to play something besides the hits with a smaller band like Night Ranger, Winger, etc. and so does KISS for that matter. But KISS has proved here that you don't only have to play the hits, contrary to what Mr. Elliot believes. I mean DL don't even play ALL their hits. "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad", "Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion)", "Make Love Like A Man", and "Too Late For Love" were all either big rock hits or pop hits and they don't ever play them. Even here I hear "Rock Rock (Till You Drop)" on the radio all the time. Sacrificing one hit for a really cool deep cut like Gods Of War, Stagefright, Mirror Mirror, Die Hard The Hunter, etc. would be enough for me but nooooo, you gotta play every single one of your hits for the zillionth time. I'm gonna still enjoy the show because what they lack in song choice they somewhat make up for in the actual show. Just wish more bands would take from Bon Jovi's handbook of set choice.....

Apparently Gene did his solo and blood spitting before I Love It Loud, and Paul flied out to the audience on Psycho Circus.
