Listening to Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon while watching The Wizard of Oz movie and having it result in some kind of magical synchronization has been a rumor for a couple of decades now. I have been too lazy to actually do it myself but a Portland Pink Floyd tribute band advertised that they would do it for me in a live setting. Since this is Boise and nothing else was going on this past Saturday night, I decided to check it out.

As I suspected, this mystical synchronization is all nonsense. A couple of songs end and begin with scenes from the movie but it is definitely coincidence. To provide an alternate point of view, my wife said there was more things matching up than I did. The band was decent musically but the singing was a little lacking. They had one video screen as a stage backdrop where they had The Wizard of Oz playing or scenes from the Wall movie or generic space footage for the spacey songs. Not as polished as Brit Floyd but the tickets were only $12 too. And from what I hear, they vary their setlist a lot more than Brit Floyd does.

I mostly approved of the setlist (Echoes was good) although how you name yourself after a song on Animals and don't play any of Animals is beyond me. People at the show said they played a lot of Animals the last time they were in town though but they still should have at least played one song from it. All in all, a decent way to spend the evening.

Yeah, the synchronizing thing is crap. You can play any album against any movie and something will sync up somewhere.

"I played Independence Day along side Load and noticed some similarities to, the biggest being they both sucked." That was a line I read in Guitar World magazine when they had and article on syncing thing. Some guy wrote that letter to the magazine and they posted it the the next month. I've always found it funny.

Saw him twice on the Darkside tour, and four times on The Wall tour. My wallet cried, but those are memories I will cherish forever

Love the setlist, seen a few PF tribute bands, but have yet to hear Echoes!

My wallet cried at the thought of going to Waters' Wall tour even once. I was going to go but the more I thought about it, I realized I only liked about half of the Wall album and I heard the setlist was The Wall and nothing else so I decided not to go. I didn't even know he did a Dark Side of the Moon tour, when was that?

And yeah, Echoes was great!

Roger toured Dark Side in 2006/07'

I saw the tour twice and it was glorious. 1.5 hours of Floyd/Solo songs followed by a short intermission. Then all of Dark Side. Then 3 songs from The Wall to end the set.
