Ghost -- Raleigh, NC -- May 11th, 2014

I first saw Ghost when they opened for Mastodon and Opeth back in 2012. I wasnít a fan then but I was really impressed by their performance and Iíve been trying to see them again since. They toured a ton last year but it never really worked out for me then but I finally got my chance this year. The venue they played was pretty small but it looked like it was sold out. There were a ton of women at this show who all seemed very interested in Papa. And a bunch of people I overheard were talking about how they travel for multiple shows which seems a little extreme for a band of Ghostís stature.

The band put on an awesome show and Papa was very funny and charismatic. While they played for a relatively short amount of time, they performed the majority of their material with a notable exception of Secular Haze. I really enjoyed the two covers they did, those were among the best songs of the night. For Body and Blood they had the Ďsisters of siní come out in nun outfits and hand out communion wafers to the audience. Itís the first time Iíve ever had a band feed me during a show. Iím looking forward to seeing them open for Maiden twice in Europe this summer.

This set is really great. It could stay until the new album is released.
