When my dad got this for me as a gift I was a bit skeptical because I saw it as a flight simulator and would be no fun at all. Well I was half right it was sort of a flight simulator but a whole lot of fun

You take control of the F-22, a fighter that was dubbed the future of American air combat but never came to reality http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headline...fights-report/

But at the time it was every boys dream to fly this thing and F22 Lightning was the closest thing you could get, and it was easy to learn and control the plane. The missions were pretty standard, go dogfight these guys, bomb this base, escort this thing. I think the best part was getting a hold of an atomic bomb and using it on your own base for the lulz

The Dead Space series is simply fantastic; 3 of 4 are on my list (I did not play the Wii version although watching playthroughs it looked interesting) so let's start with the most recent one

Of the 4 Dead Space Games, 3 was by far had the most complex story, diving into the origins of the nercomorphs and their place in the universe. DS3 to me was not as scary as the first one but the new features more than made up for it. Being able to craft weapons was such a blast to do coming with different combos to deal with your foes. I admit I got a little lost toward the end in terms of story involving the aliens who created the machine to fight the necromorphs and in some ways the story started to drag. However the ending was great and the DLC hopefully opened the door to Dead Space 4;.....unless it was all a dream, Issac Clark (SPOILER)

The first Halo game released for the Xbox 360, #3 picked up after the epic cliffhanger of 2. The story was nice, the co-op was fun as always and Halo 3 was one of the only multiple player games I played on Xbox live. But what I remember most about it is the special game fuel flavors put out by mountain dew

The first Dead Space was amazing as I will talk about in the next post, and Dead Space 2 did a great job of continuing the story

Set on Titan one of Saturn's moons Issac Clarke wakes up 3 years after the events of the first game with his mind wrapped, alone on a decaying space station with Necromorphs everywhere, and perhaps most important a voice; giving Clarke a voice after being silent on the first game was a huge gamble and it paid off as Clarke managed to become a solid character with his struggles with the marker in his mind his guilt over loosing Nicole and the horror of surviving the alien undead once again. I felt like DS2 was not as scary as the first one but the developers did a great job of not trying to copy the first and let the second become its own.

The only big issue with DS2 I think is that there is a ton of story thrown at you in waves about the Dead Space Universe where you got a small taste of it in the first one, leaving you struggling at times to keep up and toward the end I feel like it took a little bit away from the gameplay but not enough to ruin it

Back in 2008 I had gotten a new job and had some money I wanted to use on some new games for my Xbox360; while I had a few in mind, I saw this trailer on youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYaJCmJgb9A

I had never heard of Dead Space but this trailer alone hooked me into trying it out and man what a game

I am not generally a big horror game fan, I did play a little here and there (mostly resident evil) but never got into it. Picking up Dead Space and playing it was a fun but very creepy experience. The developers did a great job of producing a scary atmosphere; a voiceless character pretty much by himself fighting off what used to be the crew trying to say alive. While I loved when Issac Clarke got a voice in DS2, I think him being silent was perfect for this game as it adds to the dread of being alone surrounded by monsters. The sound team for this game should get a lot of credit for adding to the already terrifying setting that kept me jumping in my skin.

While the combat was great it wasn't groundbreaking (shot the limbs, ok that's fine) the weapons were fresh and I enjoyed upgrading and playing around with them. The story was strong but you had the feeling (SPOILER ALERT) that Nicole, the sole reason Issac is on the ship is long dead.

Again I do not consider myself a horror game person and I am sure those who are may not agree with me but I believe Dead Space to be one of the scariest games and a ton of fun to play. The success of Dead Space lead to a whole universe being created for it, and to me makes it one of the most important games of 2008

I never played any of the Dead Space games on account of me being a huge pussy. But they looked really good. I just don't scare well.

I'd put Dead Space as one of my favorite games . 2 was pretty good. Sometimes I pretend 3 doesn't exist.

I'm the biggest pussy of all time when it comes to scary games and I can't recommend the first Dead Space enough!

While I liked 3, I can see your point; 3 was not really scary at all, besides the short space levels, and the story did get really wacky at the end; the only saving grace was being able to craft your own weapons, and for me I just ended up using the pre-created weapons anyway

However the DLC which I did not play looks creepy as hell watching a let's play on youtube

Dead Space was incredible. I've not played the sequels because I didn't really hunger for more after the first one... but mainly because I heard they haven't been as good so my temptation is very low.
