It's hard to say, they've had 5 diff headliners since the tour started and MA is most likely a bigger draw than Decapitated and Necrophagist. I don't think they currently are as big as Cannibal Corpse, BDM, and DEP. Hell BTBAM and Periphery may have bigger draws at the moment and they haven't headlined.

They play bigger venues here and sell them out, sounds like they're a bigger draw

Morbid Angel is more iconic than BDM and DEP, but they sure as shit aren't as popular in 2014 than either of them.

On the topic of lineups 2011 was definitely the worst, but it was still a fun show. There's always some kind of redeeming factor to each and every lineup they've put together.

Exactly, last year Periphery played Philly the same week as Morbid Angel and headlined a venue that holds 200 more people. Not to mention the MA show definitely didn't sell out. Meanwhile DEP is popular enough to play here 3 times now in the past year(all headlining).

Seems to me Morbid Angel is just as big of a draw with just as many sellouts. Morbid Angel toured by themselves and sold out here with just locals opening. Black Dahlia Murder played a smaller venue and didn't sell it out and DEP played the same venue and pulled a good crowd, but didn't sell it out.

And again, it seems like you all are only taking into account recent record sales. There are people who will go see Morbid Angel over Black Dahlia Murder and DEP based on nostalgia only.

also get that periphery/btbam shit outta here

They didn't sell out here by any means, and I'm just talking straight ticket sales not record sales(obviously a lot of people didn't like the last MA record). Headlining BDM filled the same venue and DEP basically sells out anytime they come here(and have done so in atleast 6 diff size venues if you count one in the suburbs). MA could headline, but expect someone younger to be direct support to bring in a crowd(even CC had BTBAM the year they played).

And that's totally fine. Morbid Angel could have fucking Whitechapel open for them - it'll bring in the ticket sales for sure.

But don't get loopy and start saying Periphery can headline above Morbid Angel.

I'm pretty sure Periphery are doing Mayhem, just remember who direct support was last year(I know people like them but Animals as Leaders are boring live)
