Yeah I see MA co-headlining and playing second to last. MA just couldn't headline the bill for the venue SS plays here.

I think Morbid Angel should release another (MUCH better) album before touring again. They've toured the US at least twice since its been out.

it was like their first full-fledged US tour in like 10 years the first time they toured and the 2nd time they performed all of Covenant. Even on that first tour, they only played 3 songs from their latest album, and they were the best 3 songs from the album. They can definitely tour again leading a bill like this.

Seen Morbid Angel on both tours in the last couple years and both times were super awesome. I know it wont happen, but I would lose it if they did an Altars25th anniversary tour. My favorite death metal album of all time. Otherwise the rest of the lineup would determine if I go or not.

Altars is only 38:27 in length so its at least possible even on Summer Slaughter

I'm just going to assume that The Faceless are on it since they were in 2008, 2010 and 2012.

Hopefully Periphery aren't on it again

Let's get real here.
Morbid Angel could've headlined this tour....in the 90's.

Morbid Angel just played the Chicago HOB on the Covenant tour and the venue draws around 1200 to 1300.

Less than 200 were there. I think around 150. Some of the people I know we're on the guest list for it.

A venue like Reggies would've been better suited for them. Or the Cobra Lounge.

Point being is this is the same venue that has held SS every year in Chicago and putting two and two together, not a good number when a band like Cannibal Corpse can pack those same venues w/o needing a tour like SS.

It can be a make or break performing to this type of crowd. I don't see them doing a tour where they would play only 30 mins with their large catalog, but after their last album they are definitely in need of a new generation of fans. I wonder if there will be a new album from MA in 2014

that's funny because they sold out a 1200-capacity venue here. In Lawrence fucking Kansas.

But the Chicago show had a bunch of shit openers. Morbid Angel could easily headline this with a lineup of nine other bands that draw from a bunch of different fanbases in the metal scene.

If their Periphery based bands dominating the bill, MA can count on playing to the same amount of people as last time. MA's show/tour with Grave and Dark Funeral at Mojoes in Joliet had a better turn out. But not by much. Probably 300ish showed for a venue made for 600.

Shit, last I checked, even bands like Periphery have been drawing more people. I which it were the other way around but it looks like Illud was the ultimate plummet for Morbid Angel.

Many fans in the 90s moved on and either got into more underground stuff. Or not so underground stuff. You know, those people who make up THAT excuse of I'm "too old" to listen to death metal.

Point being, I would be very surprised if MA headlined it. The only way I imagine that being possible is if it were all extreme metal bands playing. But considering this tour is run by the same guy who runs Sumerian Records, Ash basically now uses SS as an outlet to promote what is on his label.
