So Nergal was quoted as saying all US death metal is "boring and uninspired." While I agree there are a lot of shitty, processed US death metal bands these days, I find Behemoth painfully boring. Still, I decided to give the new album a shot today, and only made it through 4 songs. I think I just will never get the hype.

Also, I think Nergal is extremely douchey. I know its old news, but the way he responded to that rape/gangbang accusation was ridiculous."It's not rape, it's part of the rock n roll lifestyle, some things are risky and dangerous." He tries WAY too hard to be edgy.

This might just be the most incredible but ridiculous site I've ever seen short of the anti-West conspiracy theory sites in the middle east. And Fox News.

http://www.femininebeauty.info/introduction

I've just spent so long mesmerized by the articles on it I can't remember how I arrived there in the first place.

Be warned it occasionally auto-forwards to advertising, but one click of the back button seems to solve it.

I think Jeff Becerra, Chuck Schuldiner and George Fisher would like a word with him...

To be fair, you've misconstrued his words a bit. What he said was:

Quote:
Extreme Metal music these days is often only extreme by definition. It is a never-ending process of striving for perfection. Too many bands are chasing this and the scene is becoming like the X-Factor for Black Metal. There is no danger and unpredictability anymore. The majority of Death Metal bands from the U.S.A are so generic, they all sound perfect. It is fast and technical but there is no substance. Bands forget about emotion when they strive for perfection. You should be driven by your intuition and not just be concerned with shredding on your guitar. Perfection is boring and uninspiring.
He's clearly referring to the recent wave of technical bands, not US death metal as a whole. This trend is definitely not limited to the US though.

Nice call, Tregs. Not only was he clearly referring primarily to tech death, but he nailed the #1 issue with the genre. Being technical just for the sake of being technical = boring as fuck. I've said it myself hundreds of times.

Nergal is hitting the nail right on the head when it comes to "death metal" bands like The Faceless, Born of Osiris, After the Burial, Rings of Saturn, etc. that are overproduced and are overly technical.

Wait, BOO, ATB and ROS are considered death metal?

I'd consider ROS more of a deathcore with BOO and ATB bordering on deathcore / metalcore.
