Yeah man, definitely was an amazing year for music. Struggled with the final list so much. Even going all the way through my top 25 it was hard as hell to finalize.

I really don't get all the hate people have around here for others that include stuff labeled as hipster or whatever. If someone likes a certain album or music that all that matters.

I think it was around the same time as the X-Men Cartoon

I can honestly say I've never seen that in my life. Wikipedia says it was on from 1994 to 1998, I think I may have been at a stage in my life where I wasn't watching cartoons then.

The X-Men cartoon was so awesome. I was eleven or twelve when it first came on and Rouge was the first time I ever noticed the female form.

I'm real shitty about keeping up with cool music as it comes out or finding out about cool bands before the rest of the world, so these year end lists are always awesome because I always find out about tons of really amazing stuff that I had just totally missed earlier in the year. This year was probably a personal record in terms of the amount of cool new bands and new albums I listened to. So much good stuff in every genre this year.

You should check it out. Spiderman The Animated Series (what it's officially called to differentiate it from other Spiderman cartoons) crossed over with the Xmen cartoon a couple of times.

Same for me. Would have made top 20, but not quite top 10. Mostly because it's not their best effort. I think I prefer both their other albums, and therefore think as good as 'The Darkening' is, it could have been better. Also try a band called Stonegriff. It be good stuff

It's good, but it's a poor-man's Relentless Retribution.
Relentless Retribution is probably my favorite Death Angel disc but I really like the new one as well. It will be top 10 for me. I also apparently liked the new Orchid disc more than you did. I have listened to it and the Heretic EP quite often his year. I will check out the Stonegriff if I can. I have not heard of them before.
