I know Pallbearer has been mentioned, but they just posted this on Facebook.

Just a bit of news for y'all heading into the weekend: as some of you may have guessed, we're gearing up to record our second album quite soon, with Billy Anderson at the helm. We'll fill you in on all the details before too long...

I think I'm starting to move past my discontent of this new version of Alcest. I've been listening to that single over and over, and it's definitely growing on me. If his songwriting can just mirror Écailles de lune and not Les voyages de l'âme, I won't complain one bit more about Alcest being all shoegaze.
I'd say it's more reminiscent of Souvenirs mixed with the softer moments of Les Voyages, but you really can't compare it to their previous full lengths.

I meant to draw from the songs on Écailles that were longer, had natural flow and didn't sound forced. Les Voyages was a forced product. The shoegaze will be fine if Neige just lets the music come naturally to him, and doesn't start trying to manipulate it too much to force it into something.

With this incredible list of 2014 announcements, I'm beginning to think next year will be the best EVER. Seriously, there could easily be 5-10 albums released next year as good as, or better than, the best album released this year.

Keeping in mind of course I thought this was a weak year with a lot of disappointments.

Keeping in mind also that a lot of great albums won't be announced until sometime next year, as well as the likelihood of debuts that aren't on anyone's radar yet.

Then again, all my pre-2013 AOTY candidates were busts.

2013 is maybe my favorite year since I've started following music so I stand in direct opposition to all that. But I'm also optimistic about 2014. I've already heard a few things I wouldn't be surprised to see in my top 20 come next December.
