Would it be too much if I say this is the best Thrash Metal album of the last few years? Well, probably, but as for 2013, this album just took it over. I never was a huge fan of Sodom, I loved Agent Orange (honestly though, how can't you?), and was a fair weather fan of them when I'd hear something good, but Epitome of Torture made me WANT to get into the rest of their catalog. The vocal patterns, the melodies, they energy, it's all here in a perfect little German snack for everyone to enjoy! There are even some elements on this album that may make non-Thrash metal fans enjoy this album. To sum this up, I was not expecting much at all, I strongly felt they were well past their prime, but this album lit a fire under their arses and put them back on the Thrash Titan throne, right where they belong!

Check it out!

I don't expect to see this on many people's Best of 2013 lists but it definitely belongs there.

I believe they have all of their albums to download for free on their bandcamp page, definitely worth the free download! http://inquinok.bandcamp.com (sorry if the link is broken.... can't get to it from work)

Thanks man! I really wanted to do something that was stuff ***I*** enjoyed and stuff that I wanted to do, and not trying to beat around the bush and earn tr00 points or anything. Not that anyone on here does that, but I definitely get that feeling from other sites' lists.

Totally, it is a great album that I feel a lot of people overlooked. It BARELY nudged out "Sister" by In Solitude on here.

I'll try to get on with the next section tonight

Thumbs down

Top ? (maybe 3) Let Downs of 2013

1. Suffocation - Pinnacle of Bedlam

I know I am going to get a lot of crap for this guy, but this is my opinion and am sticking with it! I would not call myself a huge fan of Suffocation. They do have some great albums (S/T, Effigy), but I find it hard for me to full get into them, at least on CD. Live, on the other hand, is chaos. One of the most entertaining live bands I have ever seen! Pinnacle of Bedlam did not tickle my fancy at all though. I felt it was overly repetitive, uninspired, and bland. I am not saying that it COMPLETELY sucks, it does have some entertaining moments, but as a whole it just does not deliver.

3. Voivod - Target Earth

I must admit that I am no big fan of Voivod. I have enjoyed some of their releases, but they never struck me as a band that I would enjoy. I decided to test out Target Earth and see if my opinion would change. Well.... it wasn't only my decision as a lot of my friends were hyping this album up SO MUCH, making it sound like a masterpiece, I was expecting a lot more, and boy, was I let down. It's not that the album sucks, I am sure some people who like this style think this album is great, it just has no redeeming factor for me, and comes off as quite bland. Again, not saying it sucks, I was just expecting a lot more from the feedback it was getting. To be fair, I am listening to this album as I am typing this, and it sounds better than it did the first couple times I tried listening to it. Anyway, I am sure it is a great album, but definitely not for John The Drummer.

I agree with you on the Suffocation album. It was better than Blood Oath but I think I just buy their albums because it's Suffocation, not because I like their newer sound.

Live they still tear shit up.

I think I may be a bit butthurt over the fact that Mike Smith is no longer their drummer. He was so amazing, his energy, power, stamina, that dude had it all! Their new drummer isn't bad, saw him last year at MDF, but I felt he is lacking in the energy that Mike had, so that could be effecting my view of this album as well.
