The Devil Wears Prada -- Royal Oak, MI -- November 2nd, 2013

This was the first show of the 8:18 tour with The Devil Wears Prada, The Ghost Inside, Volumes, and Texas In July.

Texas In July played first. Most of the crowd appeared to have never heard of them before. That's a shame because I think they are fantastic. They definitely won the audience over. In fact, "Hook, Line and Sinner" had possibly the craziest pit of the whole night! What a way to open the show!

Texas In July setlist
C4
03 Deville
1000 Lies
Cry Wolf
Without A Head
Bed of Nails
Hook, Line and Sinner
Elements

Next was Volumes. I saw them at BledFest 2012 w/ Still Remains, A Plea For Purging, Flatfoot 56, Inhale Exhale, The Crimson Armada, The Plot In You, Former Thieves, As Cities Burn, Comeback Kid, etc. The crowd loved Volumes, but to me they are just your average heavy band w/ tons of predictable breakdowns & the same catch phrases we've all heard a million times. Plus, I don't think their 2 vocalists compliment each other very well. They both sound the same to me, so why have 2 of them. They are a very energetic live band. I will give them that. Their music is OK, just nothing too special IMO.

The Ghost Inside is one of those bands that if you see them live you will become a big fan. I'm not sure why, but their songs translate so well live that they really set themselves apart from a lot of the other bands in their genre, IMO. I'll always go see them live, no matter who they tour with. It was cool for me to hear "Dark Horse" & "White Light" live for the 1st time. I didn't know that "White Light" was written about their singer's brother who died suddenly before he could say goodbye. Great set! Go see them live if you can.

The Ghost Inside setlist
Engine 45
Unspoken
Chrono (w/ the singer from Texas In July)
The Great Unknown
Between The Lines
This Is What I Know About Sacrifice
Thirty Three
Dark Horse
White Light

The Devil Wears Prada headlined. They had some tough acts to follow, but they rocked the house! They had tons of energy & a cool light show. This was my 5th time seeing them, and it was by far the best set I've ever seen them play. I bought their new CD 8:18 at the show. The highlight of their set was definitely "War," which they jammed instrumentally for a long time before singing the song. That was cool.

The Devil Wears Prada setlist
Gloom
Escape
Assistant to the Regional Manager
Sailor's Prayer
Care More
Martyrs
Outnumbered
War
Born To Lose
8:18
First Sight
Danger: Wildman
--encore--
Dead Throne
Mammoth

Well, then I bought a CD from him. He actually shook my hand (not sure why) : ). If I remember correctly, he's medium height & skinny w/ dark brown hair.

That TDWP set sucks, too much new CD stuff.

I've seen them five times now and Dead Throne tour was the best. When I saw them play a full set in Sept for Riot Fest it was just boring. Also Mike does too much bowing down and praying stuff in the set now.

Ya dont like the new TDWP? I think its sick.

Both TGI and TDWP sets are too short for me to attend this show. Too bad both bands kill it live.

Dead Throne is their worst album to me. This tour has a halway decent lineup and all of them are fun live bands, but these sets suck.

From hearing it nothing has stuck to me and hearing all the songs played lived from this set in Sept bored me.

TGI set is cool just because of Dark Horse / White Light but it is really damn short and is alot from the new album still. This Is What I Know Sacrifice should remain their opener.

I see I see.

On the bright side TGI will expand their fanbase cuz of this tour. Also I bet all Cali shows the peeps are going there just for TGI.

Most fans at this show prolly already knew them. I mean TGI are pretty damn big. They've had huge crowds as Warped and All Stars when I've saw them and opened for Miss May I last year and ended up having more fans there for them than MMI.
