Just in case that's not the case though, the more dust the vinyl attracts the more staticky and poppy it will be. I'm trying to eliminate this problem in my own collection, and have succeeded I think as much as I can without buying finer inner and outer sleeves. The lesser the dust in there, the better.
Oh yeah, CD will always win that competition.

I always figure with dust, if you put the inner sleeve into the out one so that the openings alternate (i.e. inner sleeve opening faces outer sleeve spine), and then the same thing with outer sleeve into poly-sleeve, then the dust has got to perform some serious chicane-turning shit to get to the vinyl, so it it makes it, it deserves it

I was thinking about whether it's worth getting some of those thin inner poly sleeves. I read that long term, paper sleeves suck because the paper deteriorates and sticks to the vinyl. A couple of the ones I've bought have come in inner poly sleeves, and I think you can buy them, although they seem scarcer than the thick outer ones.

Getting the ball rolling for my next article. The Impaled one turned out pretty well, but it was really fricken long so I'm gonna try to be more concise with this one. This one almost certainly won't be nearly as widely received as the Impaled article (which did far better than I thought it would. At just under 1300 shares it's one of the most popular things I've written), but it should still be a good bit of fun to write.

Bernie Marsden now confirmed.

Blackmore has announced off his own back that he won't be involved. Typical.

Yeah, that's what I've done as well. The vinyl itself isn't exposed, all openings are sealed by either jacket or outer sleeve. The dust will win, every time. I still have to brush off the vinyl before I play it, because there's invariably dust that somehow gets in there.

I think you're referring to static resistant inner sleeves, the kind that are clear and kind of stick to the vinyl? If so, they absolutely work. I bought Pink Floyd's A Momentary Lapse of Reason last year on vinyl and both vinyls were housed in those static resistant sleeves, which the seller swore to me would make a difference in the sound, and the records play completely silently. No dust at all, no static, no popping. I've never heard that album sound so good.

Also, since you haven't bought a turntable yet, they actually make ones that come with a stylus that has a brush attached that hits the vinyl before the needle, thus sort of cleaning the record as it spins. Might be worth looking into.

I just found out I failed out physics GRE horribly and going to put my dog to sleep tomorrow due to poor health. I'm at the lowest point of my life and on the verge of giving up. I have a take home exam to keep me busy but fuck...

Hang in there dude. You can always take the GRE again, grad school isn't going anywhere! If you need someone to talk to about grad school junk, shoot me a message. I'm going through similar stresses right now too. I'm really really sorry to hear about your dog too

Yeah, those bad boys. Disappointingly expensive, I've noticed. I ordered 100 of the outer sleeves yesterday, which should be with me tomorrow. Now I've got to consider my inner sleeve options. Also, I need some outer ones for my singles. Some of those are just in the cardboard outer sleeves with absolutely no inner sleeve at all, not even a paper one. Cheap motherfuckers.

When it comes to getting a turntable, I'll totally be hitting up the vinyl crowd here for recommendations, because I haven't got a fucking clue what I'm looking at

But that's some way off right now, as I simply don't have the space for one.

Because you failed a class and your pet passed away? Shoot, I understand you're bummed, but giving up? C'mon now.
