Cold- 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage

I'm moving onto 2000, where shit really picked up; if I remember something for 1999 I'll post it, but carrying on.....

1. "Just Got Wicked"
2. "She Said"
3. "No One" (feat. Sierra Swan)
4. "End of the World"
5. "Confession"
6. "It's All Good"
7. "Send in the Clowns" (feat. Aaron Lewis)
8. "Same Drug"
9. "Anti-Love Song"
10. "Witch" (feat. Sierra Swan)
11. "Sick of Man"
12. "Outerspace"
13. "Bleed" (feat. Aaron Lewis) (also known as "Thirteen" after 9/11)

To be honest I'm not sure what drove me to get this album; I recall seeing the video for Just Got Wicked and No One, maybe that was it. (So for a lot of albums in this list, a purchase was influenced by seeing a music video; sue me I was young and nieve)

It's not a great album but it's not bad. This album really broke Cold into the mainstream, and I can see why: Most of the songs are catchy and has the nu-metal feeling to it, as the genre exploded around this time. Listening to it now it doesn't too much for me, and I didn't follow Cold after that, expect for Stuoopid Girl from the next album.

Score Today 6/10

Spineshank- The Height of Callousness

\

"Asthmatic"
"The Height of Callousness"
"Synthetic"
"New Disease"
"(Can't Be) Fixed"
"Cyanide 2600"
"Play God"
"Malnutrition"
"Seamless"
"Negative Space"
"Transparent"

Another example of getting hooked via music video, I saw Synthetic on MTV and it was catchy as hell; unlike a majority of the albums I will be posting, I actually enjoyed the other songs on the album rather then just the single; A more industrial metal feel overall this is an album that today I can go back and enjoy about as much as I did 13 years ago. I don't think Spineshack really took off with the success of this album as I haven't heard their name come up at all. If you are into industrial metal give this a try

Score today: 8/10

So i'm confused, you said you were doing 1999-present, but after your '99 album (Matrix Soundtrack) you did some 98 and 97 stuff. Was there something that I didn't read, because I are confused.

That's ok I knew this might be a bit confusing; what I am doing is going back to 1999, the year when I started listening to hard rock/metal; the albums may before 1999; what I am trying to do is show my journey from 1999 to now and how my tastes have changed. So some of the albums I will be doing maybe will be done before 1999, but I'm experimenting to go from year to year of my life (1999-present) and show you the albums that influenced me today

I hope that makes sense I appreciate the question

Korn- Follow the Leader & Issues

1. "It's On!"
2. "Freak on a Leash"
3. "Got the Life"
4. "Dead Bodies Everywhere"
5. "Children of the Korn" (feat. Ice Cube)
6. "B.B.K." 3:56
7. "Pretty" 4:12
8. "All in the Family" (feat. Fred Durst)
9. "Reclaim My Place"
10. "Justin"
11. "Seed"
12. "Cameltosis"
13. "My Gift to You"

I'm doing a double album post, because I brought both albums on the same day

So August 2000 was a rollercoaster for me; my dad got divorced after a fucking month, thus I lost two really cool step-siblings in the process, I was just starting high school and all the shit that comes with that; on the plus side I had more freedom to buy what I wanted so there you go; thus a theory of mine comes into play; some music you get is linked to your mood or situation; needless to say I was pretty depressed at the time, thus teen angust....Korn is perfect for people who felt like me!

Anyway onto FTL; This was the shit for the past two years everyone was talking about it; I'm sure I saw the videos for Freak on a Leash and Got the Life about 1,000 times before I got the album. This month marks the 15th birthday of the album, and although I'm not a huge Korn fan anymore, this is still an album that holds up well today. The dark lyrics, the twin guitar attack (7-strings was like Jesus 15 years ago) plus so many people (read:teens) connecting to the lyrics, and I was hooked. I think this holds up today, I think some of the deeper cuts like Dead Bodies and My Gift are more enjoyable to listen to vs. FOAL and GTL which have been overplayed to death

Today's score 7/10

1. "Dead"
2. "Falling Away from Me"
3. "Trash"
4. "4 U"
5. "Beg for Me"
6. "Make Me Bad"
7. "It's Gonna Go Away"
8 "Wake Up"
9. "Am I Going Crazy"
10. "Hey Daddy"
11. "Somebody Someone"
12. "No Way"
13. "Let's Get This Party Started"
14. "Wish You Could Be Me"
15. "Counting"
16. "Dirty"

One thing I was not a fan of on FTL was the rap elements with Ice Cube and Fred Drust coming and sticking their asses in. Issues took that out and it was pure nu-metal madness. Issues to me hold up better today than FTL because of tracks like Falling Away, Someone, and Trash that, at least back then really punched you in the face; Let's put it this way, Issues is the one Korn album I would go see played if they ever did a full album tour of it

Today's score 8.5/10

I remember I purchased "Issues" at a virgin Record store in 1999. I was in 5th or 6th grade at the time during my Elementary days. It was my first Korn album and I use to be obsessed with the it. I Could not stop playing it day and night. "Trash" was my favorite song on the album. Truth be told, I don't really listen to Korn at all anymore, nor can i really stand them anymore. It's funny, I remember during my Elementry years the only bands that ruled my world was Papa roach, limp bizkit, Korn, Blink 182 ahahhaa all that good stuff. Everything changed though once I got into middle school and I discovered a little band called Slayer in 7th grade during September of 2001(I was first introduced to the band by the song "Disciple". Yes, that was my very first Slayer song)....that's pretty much when i stopped listening to limb biz kit, Korn, and all those other great bands.

I was a hardcore KoRn fan from the first album, and I loved the second one too. But Follow the Leader just did not sit well with me from day one. Something about that album just didn't have the gritty, raw feel of their first two. And very few of the songs were even good, to me. And making the first twelve tracks four seconds of dead air? What the fuck is that? Issues I enjoyed a lot more. I actually liked the instrumental interludes most and the last song.

That said, I've sold or traded in very few of my CDs over the years. Follow the Leader and Issues aren't in my collection anymore. Whereas the first two albums will never leave. In a way, I wish I'd kept Issues.

(I still have my copy of Untouchables, but that's only because when I was selling them no one wanted it)

That was to add up to a minute of silence for Justin, the kid who met them through Make-a-Wish and who they wrote the song "Justin" from that album about.
