The Cure -- Montreal, Quebec -- August 2nd, 2013

Venue: Parc Jean-Drapeau
Festival: Osheaga 2013 (Day 1)

This is my first time at Canada's biggest pop/rock festival: Montreal's own Osheaga. This year's edition is sold out, with about 40 000 expected attendees each day. I decided to go to this instead of Heavy MTL, because the headliners at our metal fest are especially lame year (except for Danzig) and because I wanted to try out a non-metal festival for once. I think I've made the right choice, because I had a total blast on my first day and there's two more coming up! Osheaga basically takes place on the same island as Heavy MTL, but it uses a much larger space, due to the two additional stages and other stuff. Some improvements compared to the Heavy MTLs I went to were: food trucks offering a varied selection of dishes, much smoother organization (getting into the site was really quick), great sound for most bands, lots of dumb contests and free stuff, water refill stations, more washrooms, the right to bring your own lunch and non-alcoholic beverages, pretty hipster girls... The only things that sucked were the distance between the stages, the disrespectful hipsters that couldn't stop chatting, even while The Cure was playing (but you get that in any big concert), and the fact that I lost my water bottle before the first band and nearly got dehydrated many times. Phoenix and The Cure played two of the best performances I've ever seen. The Cure were probaly going to play "10:15 Saturday Night" and "Killing An Arab" when they got cut off.

Here are the bands I saw:

Ponctuation (6.5/10)
Guards (7/10)
DIIV (8/10)
Ben Howard (7/10)
Alt-J (9/10)
Two Door Cinema Club (8.5/10)

The Cure are awesome live. They usually play double this many songs on their own tours. I saw them in 2008 and they played for like 3 and 1/2 hours.

I would have felt cheated with a set that short after seeing they played this.

Weither they played twenty five songs or fifty songs, if they played Disintegration I would jizz.

Honestly, fifty songs would maybe be too much. I don't think I could sit through five hours of anything.

That's what I call getting your money's worth out of a show lol. The fact that the third encore is almost as long as Sabbaths entire set this tour is kind of sad though lol.
