Black Diamond is a far superior song to Rock And Roll All Nite... but it's a terrible set closer. They closed with it at Sweden Rock and because of the way that song ends it just goes flat when everyone should be euphoric.

They should start closing with God Gave Rock And Roll To You II, instead of using it as the outro tape.

They should close with "I Was Made For Lovin' You" so everyone can get a head start on the traffic out of the place.

All kidding aside - I used to love "Deuce" as an opener - it hits hard and gets things going strong, and RARAN is still a great closer in my opinion. It ends the show with a "BANG" and everyone leaves on a high note, except the grumpy setlist nitpickers!

I disagree with your statement that Black Diamond is a terrible set closer, it's one of the best closing songs for a band I've ever heard of.I do however agree with you that GGRARTY would a cool way to close the show.

So, have you actually seen them close with it?

Awesome

I saw them do it, and it didn't work. It leaves the crowd flat, and that's obviously the effect it's had more often than not, otherwise they wouldn't have switched it. This is KISS after all, they never change their setlists without good reason.

Actually, they rarely change them even with good reason (like Paul's basically lost his voice, for example).

If Black Diamond leaves the crowd flat, maybe they should not close with it, but use something other than RNRAN, like God Gave Rock 'n' Roll To You II, 100,000 Years, Let Me Go Rock 'n' Roll, or my idea for a great closer Crazy, Crazy Nights.Maybe even Lick It Up, Detroit Rock City, or Heaven's On Fire to.

I wouldn't use Let Me Go, Rock 'n' Roll. Not enough people now it, same with 100,000 Years.

Crazy, Crazy Nights, GGRARTY or Detroit Rock City would all work though.

As I said before, I'd use GGRARTY. They obviously think it has closer potential, else they wouldn't use it as the outro tape.
