Alice Cooper -- Uncasville, CT -- June 21st, 2013

After reading some of the posts on here about this tour, I decided at the last minute to check it out. Not a huge Manson fan at all, but Alice is always a good show, so...

Got to the casino early and got a spot 2 or 3 people back from the rail. First up was the opener, "Picture Me Broken". They were ok, but not great. (I found out later that the singer is Greg Allman's daughter, fwiw).

Manson was on first tonight. His performance was much better than when I saw him with Rob Zombie in October last year. He was moving around the stage, and managed to not throw up onstage like last time! The MM fans however, sucked royal ass. If there was a referee for the crowd, there would have been many "unnecessary roughness" calls. Now I get pushing closer to the stage and all that, but to just shove people for the hell of it (and not even in a pit) is just being an asshole. Luckily when Manson's set ended, the a-hole quotient went way down since his people don't seem to ever stay around for the good bands!

Alice was... Alice! He owns the stage. The usual decapitation, blood, giant monsters, and all that, but it never comes across as lame, and I have seen him 6 times now. His band is tight, and as someone else mentioned on here, Orianthi has really come into her own place in the band. When I saw them the first tour with her in the lineup she seemed almost timid, but she was up front and definitely comfortable in the band now!

I am beginning to think I have some kind of a "guitar pick repellent" though. Lately every time I have been near the rail, picks are coming down all around me, but never right at me... oh well...

My pictures from the show:

I thought Manson sounded awful. I was thinking he was either way out of shape or extremely drunk. A friend of mine did the meet and greet and said he was drinking absinthe so that makes sense.

Cooper's set kicked ass. Last time I saw him was at Foxwoods in 2002 so it had been awhile. It's sad that a lot of people left after Manson but oh well. I had no past knowledge of Orianthi but she can shred pretty well.

I did too... so you can imagine how bad he was on the Zombie tour then, since he was 10X better at this show!

It's a shame that he's such an ass, and that he attracts a crowd of d-bags, because his showmanship is definitely up there, and some of his music kicks major ass!
