This album helped teach a 13 year old me about a lot of the things I cared about in music (that this album entirely lacked) and to understand the idea that I could absolutely love a band and that still doesn't make them infallible.

Also the movie about making it is pretty good (at least, better than the album itself.)

I remember I used to be on this discussion board back when this album came out and everyone was praising it saying "METALLICA IS BACK!!!" and "BEST ALBUM SINCE BLAH BLAH BLAH".... I listened to it and tried to force it down my throat... yeah.... no.

It's alright. People with bad taste in music can still fit in, they just have to be kept away from the stereo at parties.
